Blatant pandering to Hillary supporters. The millions of people who voted for Hillary in the Democratic primary (disclosure: I was not one) did so NOT because she was a woman, but because they believed she was the best candidate for the presidency. Clinton and Palin have had vastly different political careers and differ on many, if not all, of the key issues in this election. So why would Clinton supporters ignore those differences and vote for the ticket that has a woman on it solely because of the female presence? The suggestion, whether intentional or not, that one woman candidate is as good as any other is beyond insulting.
Ha! Tina Fey was my first thought too...anyway, it seems like this shores up the conservative base but I'd be surprised Hilary supporters swing the other way. Smacks of desperation from McCain's camp.
zzzeitgeist is a blog that seeks to identify, explain, and link the many disparate strands of international politics and economics.
How does China’s internet firewall affect its trade obligations? What's the best way to regulate international credit markets? Do mosquito nets really promote development? How can the international community address climate change without disrupting global commerce?
And, most importantly, why does all of this matter?
